Doa di atas menjadi bacaan rutin Dr. Farahidah sebelum mengajar di dalam kelas.

Moga-moga dikurniakan keberkatan daripada doa yang dibaca dan ilmu yang dipelajari.

Dua and intention for studying

The Messenger, upon him be peace, said, actions are but by intentions and everyone will be rewarded according to what they intend.’ For this reason, one’s intention in studying is very important. Real success in one’s studies will be dependent on one’s intention as the messenger said, ‘everyone will be rewarded according to what they intend.’ One can be rewarded for secular studies by having a noble intention. The value of studying the religious sciences is raised by the quality of the intention. For this reason, Imam al-Haddâd encouraged his students to read the following intention

Al-hamdu_llilahi rabb_il_’âlamîn wa sallahu ‘ala saydinâ Muhamamdin wa ‘alâ âlihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.
Nawaytu al-ta’alluma wa talîma wat_tadhakkara wa-tadhkîr wa_ na’fa’ wa_l_’intifâ’ wal-ifâdah wa’l_istifâdah wa_l-hath ‘ala_tamassuki bi kitâbillahi wa sunnati_rusûlihi wa_du’â il_al-hudâ wa_dalâlata ‘ala_l_khayri wabtighâha waj_hillâhi wa mardâtihi wa qurbihi wa thawâbihi subhânahu wa ta’âla

All praise to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. And salutations and greetings upon our master Muhammad and upon his family and companions.

I intend to study and teach, take and give a reminder, take and give benefit, take and give advantage, to encourage the holding fast to the book of Allah and the way of his messenger, and calling to guidance and directing towards good hoping for the countenance of Allah and His pleasure, proximity and reward, transcendent is He.

Among the supplications that we have been taught to improve our understanding and aid us in our study is:

Ya Fattâh, ya ‘Alîm iftah lanâ fathan qarîban
O Opener, O knowledgeable One, open up for us an opening soon.
May Allah grant us all success, âmîn.
